Traceroute is a network diagnostic tool that records the path (hops) data takes from your computer to a target server. It shows each intermediate router with response times, helping identify network issues or delays.

Our simulator generates a realistic virtual path based on typical internet routing structures. It does not send real network packets – instead, it creates plausible hop IPs, response times, and locations for educational and demonstration purposes.

No, this is a simulation tool and does not perform actual network tracing. To run a genuine traceroute, use your operating system's built-in traceroute (or tracert on Windows) command in a terminal.

An asterisk ( * ) indicates that a hop did not respond within the timeout period. This often happens with routers configured to ignore traceroute probes, but the path may still continue to the destination.

Each hop displays three round-trip times (in milliseconds). Consistent low values mean a good connection; sudden spikes or high variations may indicate congestion or a problematic router.
