A Nixie tube clock uses vintage cold-cathode display tubes invented in the 1950s. Each tube contains a wire-mesh anode and multiple cathodes shaped like numerals (0–9). When voltage is applied, the selected cathode glows with a warm orange-amber light through neon gas. Our widget simulates this iconic retro aesthetic with CSS glow effects, glass reflections, and subtle flicker animations for an authentic vintage feel—no high voltage required!

Flip clocks, also known as split-flap displays, were popularized in the mid-20th century. They use a series of cards or flaps printed with numerals that mechanically flip to display the time. Each digit position has a stack of flaps; when the time changes, the appropriate flap drops down with a satisfying click. Our digital version recreates this with smooth CSS 3D flip animations, complete with the signature horizontal divider line across each card.

The AM/PM indicator appears next to the time in 12-hour mode and is styled to match whichever clock design you're currently viewing (Nixie glow or Flip card style).
