An online screen color picker (also called an eyedropper tool) allows you to sample any color visible on your computer screen. Using the browser's EyeDropper API, it lets you click anywhere on your screen to capture the exact color value, which is then displayed in multiple formats including HEX, RGB, HSL, and CMYK. This tool also features a built-in magnifier for pixel-precise color selection.
The EyeDropper API is supported in Google Chrome 95+, Microsoft Edge 95+, and Opera 81+. Firefox and Safari do not currently support this API. If your browser lacks EyeDropper support, you can still use our Image Color Picker feature — upload any image and use the magnifier to pick colors with pixel-level precision.
Our magnifier zooms into the image at your mouse cursor's position, showing individual pixels in a circular preview window. You can adjust the zoom level from 2x to 12x using the slider. The magnifier displays a pixel grid and a red crosshair at the center, helping you identify the exact pixel being sampled. Click on the image to lock in your selected color.
This tool displays colors in HEX (#RRGGBB), RGB (red, green, blue), HSL (hue, saturation, lightness), CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, key/black — approximate conversion), and CSS-ready formats. Each format has a convenient copy button. HEX and RGB are most commonly used in web design, while CMYK is useful for print projects.
Yes! Your recently picked colors are automatically saved in your browser's localStorage and persist across sessions. You can click any swatch in the history to reload that color's details. Use the Clear button to remove all saved colors at any time. Up to 24 colors are retained in the history.
Absolutely! You can paste a screenshot directly (Ctrl+V / Cmd+V) into the tool, or drag and drop an image file. The image will load into the canvas where you can use the magnifier to inspect pixels and pick colors precisely. This is especially useful for extracting colors from UI designs, logos, or photographs.
