Frequently Asked Questions

Dirt, sand, and fabric threads can lodge between zipper teeth, causing friction. Without lubrication, metal or plastic components wear faster, leading to snagging, uneven movement, or even broken sliders.

At minimum, seasonally or before every major trip. If you camp in sandy or wet environments, inspect and lubricate after each outing. This tool helps you track intervals and reminds you when it's time.

Gear-specific zipper waxes and silicone-based sprays are top choices. They repel water and don't attract dirt. Avoid sticky oils or WD-40 which can gum up over time. Always test on a small area.

Gently brush teeth with a soft toothbrush and mild soapy water. Rinse and let dry completely. For stubborn grit, use compressed air or a toothpick. Never lubricate over debris.

Pull sliders straight (not at an angle), avoid forcing, and occasionally check for loose stitching. Store the tent loosely in a dry place. Fabric guard tape can also protect surrounding material.
