The model uses real astronomical data from NASA for diameters and orbital distances. However, in reality it is impossible to show both planet sizes and distances accurately on a single screen. Use the Real Scale preset to see the actual proportions - you'll notice planets become tiny dots at huge distances. The size multiplier compensates for this so you can visually explore the solar system layout.
In a true scale model, planets are extremely small compared to the distances between them. For example, if the Sun were the size of a grapefruit (14 cm), Earth would be 15 meters away and only 1.3 mm in diameter. This tool reflects that reality - the Real Scale preset keeps sizes proportional to distances, so planets appear as tiny dots or not at all. Adjust the Size Multiplier to make them visible.
Distance Scale (km/px) determines how many kilometers are represented by one pixel. Lower values increase the spacing between planets. Size Multiplier artificially enlarges the planets relative to the chosen distance scale so you can see them clearly. Together they let you balance distance realism and visual clarity.
