Frequently Asked Questions

Our tool uploads your PDF to a secure server where each page is rendered and analyzed pixel-by-pixel. Pages containing any color (non‑grayscale) pixels are marked as Color; otherwise they are classified as Black & White. The analysis is performed entirely in memory and your file is automatically deleted after processing.

Absolutely. Your file is transmitted over HTTPS and temporarily processed on a secure server. We do not store, share, or keep any copy of your PDF. Once the analysis is complete, the file is permanently removed from our system.

A page is considered Color if it contains at least one visible pixel that isn’t a shade of gray (i.e., where R, G, and B values are not all equal). Pages that contain only grayscale or pure black/white pixels are labeled Black & White. Even a single colored element (like a logo or a highlighted word) will mark the whole page as color.

Yes, the tool can handle PDFs up to 50 MB. For files with hundreds of pages, analysis might take a few extra seconds. We recommend patience for very large documents.

Knowing which pages are color helps you optimize printing costs (print only color pages in color and black pages in grayscale), meet publisher requirements, or archive documents with accurate metadata. It’s also useful for pre‑press checks.

The current version requires an internet connection to process the PDF on our secure backend. Future updates may include a fully client‑side version using WebAssembly. For now, your file is sent to our server for analysis.
