Our tool supports these presets plus fully custom formats where you define the exact structure using X as a placeholder for random characters.

Our generator uses JavaScript's crypto.getRandomValues() API where available, which provides cryptographically strong random values suitable for production use. Each key is generated independently, and we automatically deduplicate results to ensure every key in your batch is unique. However, please note that true license key security requires a backend validation system with digital signatures or database verification — this tool generates the key strings themselves.

All keys in a batch are guaranteed to be unique. If you need larger volumes, we recommend generating in multiple batches or using a dedicated server-side key generation service.

Yes, you can use the generated keys for commercial software distribution. However, we strongly recommend implementing a proper license validation system on your backend. A robust licensing system typically includes: (1) a server-side key database to track issued and activated keys, (2) digital signatures or HMAC to prevent key forgery, (3) activation limits and expiration dates, and (4) secure key storage. The keys generated here serve as the serial number component of such a system.

Standard license keys use uppercase letters (A-Z) and digits (0-9), providing 36 possible characters per position. It's best practice to avoid visually confusing characters such as: 0 (zero) vs O (letter O), 1 (one) vs I (uppercase i) vs L (lowercase L), and 8 vs B in some fonts. Our "No Confusing Chars" option automatically excludes 0, O, 1, I, and L from the character set, making keys easier to read and manually type without errors. This reduces the character space to 31 characters but greatly improves user experience.

A basic license key validation flow works as follows: 1) Generate keys using this tool and store them securely in your database. 2) When a user enters a key, send it to your server for validation. 3) Check the key against your database — verify it exists, hasn't been activated before (or is within its activation limit), and hasn't expired. 4) Return a success or failure response to the client. For enhanced security, consider using asymmetric cryptography (RSA/ECDSA) to sign keys, or use HMAC-based key derivation so keys can be verified without a database lookup. Many third-party licensing platforms also offer ready-made solutions.
