Brightness adjusts the overall lightness or darkness of the entire image uniformly — increasing brightness makes every pixel lighter. Contrast controls the difference between the lightest and darkest areas — higher contrast makes shadows deeper and highlights brighter, adding visual punch and depth to your photo.

Increase brightness moderately (+15 to +30) while slightly reducing contrast (-5 to -10). This lifts shadows without blowing out highlights. You can also try the "Soft" preset for a gentle brightening effect that retains detail in bright areas.

For portraits, try brightness +10 to +20 and contrast +10 to +15. This gently brightens skin tones while adding enough contrast to define facial features. Avoid extreme contrast settings which can make skin texture look harsh.
