Is my photo uploaded to any server?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your photos never leave your device. This means complete privacy and security — no data is ever sent to any external server. You can use this tool offline once the page loads.
How do I get the best background blur results?
For optimal results: (1) Use photos where the subject is centered or clearly positioned. (2) Adjust the Clear Zone Size to match your subject's dimensions. (3) Use Edge Feather to create a natural transition between sharp and blurred areas. (4) Drag on the preview to position the clear zone exactly over your subject. (5) Experiment with different blur strengths — 6-12px works well for natural-looking portraits.
What image formats are supported?
You can upload JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF images up to 20MB in size. For downloading, you can choose between PNG (lossless quality), JPEG (smaller file size), or WebP (best balance of quality and size). We recommend WebP for web use and PNG for archival.
Can I use this tool on mobile devices?
Absolutely! The tool is fully responsive and works on iOS and Android devices. You can upload photos directly from your phone's gallery, use touch gestures to position the clear zone, and download the result — all from your mobile browser. Safari and Chrome on mobile are fully supported.
What's the difference between this and phone portrait mode?
Phone portrait mode uses depth sensors or dual cameras to create a true depth map, giving pixel-accurate subject separation. This tool uses a customizable radial gradient mask to simulate the effect. While not as precise at edge detection, it offers more creative control — you decide exactly where the clear zone is and how the blur transitions, making it great for artistic effects that phone portrait modes can't achieve.
Does the tool support batch processing?
Currently, this tool processes one photo at a time for maximum quality and control. For batch processing needs, we recommend using the same settings on multiple photos individually — the preset buttons make it quick to apply consistent effects across images.
