The Panic button provides emergency protection. With one click, it instantly shreds all text and redirects your browser to a safe, innocuous website (configurable in the tool). This is useful if someone unexpectedly approaches your screen while you're viewing sensitive information. You can also trigger a panic shred from the keyboard by pressing Esc twice rapidly, or using the shortcut Ctrl+Shift+P.

Normal clearing (select-all + delete, or a clear button) removes text instantly without any visual feedback. This can leave you wondering: "Did I actually delete it?" The shredder provides satisfying, undeniable visual confirmation. Additionally, browser undo features (Ctrl+Z) can sometimes restore cleared text from the input's undo stack. Our shredding process overwrites and removes the text more aggressively, reducing the chance of accidental recovery via undo within the current session.
